It is a common Jewish name.
Reply:If you have been told by family members that you have Jewish roots, then why doubt it ? If not you may be descended from English Bloomfields. Blumfeld or Bloomfield ? Do some research, as same names, does NOT mean same ancestral roots.
Reply:A name does not a Jew make. The concept of a "Jewish" surname is a common stereotype even amongst Jews. Jews named "Tanaka" are no less Jewish because they are not named "Schwartz."
Reply:sure sounds like it to me bloomfieldberg.
Reply:Bloomfield sounds pretty Anglo (English) to me....and most of the Ashkenazim Jews were in Central and Eastern Europe, so I don't think so

  1. My family name is bloomfield and was just the name my dutch Jewish family took when they arrived in England in the later 1800's as in the english translation of their real name Bloemsma and they are definitely Jewish.

  2. There are Bloomfields whose name derives from Normandy and are in the English/Christian mold; and Jews of that name, many previously Blomfeld.
