Christian or Jewish Name! "NAOMI"?

Ok my friends name is spelt “NAOMI”.

How would a Christian or Jewish spell the name in english?

What do you people think, Christian name or Jewish name?

Christian or Jewish Name! "NAOMI"?
The name Naomi comes from Hebrew.

[Edit] If you wanted to transliterate it from Hebrew, it would be something like Naami. (If you want I can show you the link the poster above me copied %26amp; pasted from.)

Naomi was the one who discouraged Ruth, the first convert to Judaism, from converting. This is where we get the 'push away with one hand and pull in with the other' concept applied to potential converts.

The Book of Ruth in no way correlates to the gentile church unless you are a Christian, Boaz was a Jew, Ruth was a convert to Judaism, but I suppose you did ask for both Christian and Jewish perspectives. Ruth is not Jesus' ancestor, she is King David's ancestor. (Jesus has no lineage from King David.)
Reply:That's a Jewish name. Naomi from the book of Ruth is the great great grandmother of David.
Reply:Jewish - נָעֳמִי "Pleasant; agreeable" However, the tragic events in her life made her want to change it to Mara, or "bitterness".

In type...

Naomi - represents Israel

Ruth - represents the gentile church

Boaz - represents the Kinsman Redeemer

Through the union of Boaz and Ruth, Naomi was able to get her land back.
Reply:Jews always spell it Naomi in English.

You could make a case for Na'ami, but I've never seen it.
Reply:Yes.

Naomi was Ruth's mother-in-law in the book of Ruth. Naomi was Jewish. Ruth is in the direct line of the ancestry of Jesus. She married a guy named Boaz.

Naomi is therefore a Jewish name...

That said: many Christians use Bible names from both the Old and New Testament. E.g. Sarah Elizabeth as a first and middle name come from Sarah (Abraham's wife in the OT) and Elizabeth (the mother of John, Jesus' cousin, in the NT).

Naomi is therefore also a Christian name!

BTW Naomi is how it is spelled in English.
