Is the last name schneider jewish name?

It is a German name. Just like last names with Fein, Stein, Berg and witz are German last names. A lot of German Jews adopted those names but 95% of people with those names have no Jewish connection

Is the last name schneider jewish name?
No, it's just German. Of course, a lot of Jews are of Italian and German descent. It's a religion, not a race.
Reply:Hard to tell. A lot of German or once-German names are appropriated for Jewish use.
Reply:I don't think it is a jewish name. Most likely, in this case the last name describes an occupation. Schneider is german for "tailor". At the beginning point in the Schneider family lineage, there was probably a man who was described as "the tailor" and that is how the last name "Schneider" was started. Pretty cool if you ask me.
