What is the name of the material that Jewish people wrap around their shoulders on Yom Kippur?
Yes, Jews wrap tallitot (plural of tallit) around their shoulders on Yom Kippor but this is because they do this every day. The special thing that is worn on Yom Kippor (and also on Rosh Hashanah) is called a Kittel. It can be made of any material but because it is supposed to be special, many have silk in them. Here is a link to more information:

Reply:it's called a tallit and worn for every service, not just yom kippur. a jewish person receives their first tallit at their bar or bat mitzvah. the fringe is to represent the 613 commandments.
Reply:It's a prayer shawl. In Hebrew, the word is "tallit". It's worn every Shabbat morning as well.
