There is no connection between the two. Herschel means "deer" or "little deer".
As for Isaiah's son: The name would be "Maher Shalal Hash Baz" not one full word which literally translates to: Quicken-Booty, Hasten-Plunder.
(Isaiah 8:3): "And I was intimate with the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son; and the L-rd said to me, “Call his name maher shalal hash baz”.
Take note of the spacing ;)
In Jewish names, is the name "Herschel" short for "Mahershalalhashbaz"?
Never heard of that longer word before, so I doubt it.
